US President Donald Trump welcomed Monday his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to the White House in Washington D.C., where both presidents held a joint press conference, on the sidelines of the meeting between the two sides. During the press conference, both leaders confirmed their support to each other in the fight against terrorism. Trump stressed that his country would fight alongside Egypt against terrorism and would be a strong ally, asserting his strong support for Sisi. "I assure President Sisi that you have an ally and a friend in the United States and I look forward to working with you," Trump said. He explained that the US would work with Egypt to eliminate extremist groups. The US president revealed his intentions to intensify military cooperation with Egypt, saying that it would mark excellent relations between both countries. Trump said: "The US administration is looking forward to working to improve Egyptian-American relations and strengthen them to become a strong and long relationship, as the coming period requires strengthening these relations in all areas." He revealed that he has reached an agreement with Sisi to increase US military aid to Egypt, especially in the field of aircraft carriers. He confirmed that Sisi did a great job in a difficult situation and the US supports him. President Sisi thanked his US counterpart for inviting him to visit the United States on his first official visit since taking office. "Since I met you last September, I have bet on you and I really admire your unique personality, especially when it comes to the fight against terrorism, which is satanic evil that kills the innocents, destroys peoples and frightens countless more," Sisi said. Sisi explained that Egypt would stand by Trump in implementing the strategy of confronting and eradicating terrorism. The two leaders are currently meeting to promote bridges of understanding on the nature of the challenges facing the region and ways to address them. Both presidents aim to confirm the strategic nature of the relations between the countries and them in the coming period in all areas. Meanwhile, members of the Egyptian community in the US have gathered in front of the White House, ahead of the meeting between both leaders, in order to welcome Sisi and show their support to him. They chanted slogans, such as: "We love Egypt, we love and support Sisi."
