Al-Sisi to meet Trump in Washington next month: state-run newspaper
The four-day visit will be the first official one by Al-Sisi to a US president
Published in Daily News Egypt on 19 - 03 - 2017

High-ranking officials affiliated to the Egyptian presidency asserted on condition of anonymity to the state-run newspaper Akhbar Al Youm that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi will start a four-day official visit to the US at the beginning of April.
During the visit, Al-Sisi is expected to hold bilateral discussions with his US counterpart Donald Trump for the sake of fostering relations between Egypt and the US. Moreover, they will discuss unsettled cases in the Middle East, Akhbar Al Youm quoted presidency officials as saying.
The planned visit to the US will also include discussions on countering terrorism and ending ongoing conflicts in Syria, Libya, Iraq, and Yemen, in addition to achieving political harmony in these countries to save their sovereignty, Akhbar Al Youm newspaper reported.
Concerning Al-Sisi's agenda during the visit, the newspaper noted that the visit—scheduled to last from 1 April to 4 April—will include important meetings with prominent figures from the US administration and members from the US congress.
In January, following Trump's inauguration as US president, he made a phone call to Al-Sisi in which Trump said that he is looking forward to Al-Sisi's awaited visit to Washington, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian presidency at that time.
The phone call also included discussions on ways to fight terrorism and extremism, in addition to Trump expressing his appreciation for Egypt's efforts in eliminating terrorism and his confirmation that the US is supporting Egypt in its war on terror.
