Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry revealed Monday the meeting between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his US counterpart, Donald Trump would focus on boosting bilateral relations and Egypt's economic reform plans. Shoukry added in a statement to reporters that the Sisi-Trump summit also tackled impact of Egypt's newly-adopted economic measures on the Egyptian society. Shoukry stressed that the meeting would also deal with US support to Egypt's economy, confirming the strength of the Egyptian-American relations. He added that the US is a global power and Egypt is a regional power, which makes the relationship between the two countries supportive of investment. He said that the meeting would shed light on counter-terrorism efforts, noting that the current US administration has a specific vision in this particular issue, as Trump's approach aims to eliminate terrorism completely, something which Sisi agrees on. The minister explained that the human rights issue is a primary concern to the Egyptian president and citizens alike, adding that Egypt is keen to provide the rights of its citizens, expressing his willingness to explain the human rights situation in Egypt. President Sisi left Saturday for Washington on a five-day visit to the United States، where he would meet his US counterpart Donald Trump، in order to discuss cooperation and the latest regional security developments. This comes in light of US desire to restore momentum to those relations and develop them in various fields, as well as Trump's desire to develop strategic relations between the two countries. The Egyptian President's visit، which comes at the invitation of Trump، is the first since Sisi assumed office، as his previous visits to the US were part of his participation in the United Nations' activities. The Egyptian community in the United States held Sunday a rally in front of Sisi's residence in Washington DC. Egyptians raised their country's flag and held posters welcoming Sisi to the US.
