Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced Muslim Brotherhood (MB) member, Wagdy Ghoneim along with two others to death over terror-related charges, Youm7 News reported on Sunday. The court has referred the file of the convicts to the Grand Mufti of Egypt to take the Sharia opinion over the death sentence, according to the Egyptian law. The Mufti's fatwa will be reviewed at the April 29th session. Ghoneim, 64, faced accusations of forming an unlawful group from 2003-2015, that aimed at fighting the state institutions, terrorizing the citizens and calling on toppling the Egyptian regime. The Turkey-based cleric announced Saturday freezing his membership in the Muslim Brotherhood in an official statement, protesting the recent policies of the group. Separately, Cairo Court of Cassation rejected an appeal by MB Supreme Guide along with 17 leading figures against a Criminal Court ruling that put them on the states terrorism list. The convicts were accused of inciting violence and joining armed group that aimed at terrorizing citizens during the uprising of June 30, 2013 against the ousted President Mohamed Morsi. They were involved in terror attacks that killed nine and injured 91 others.
