Cairo - Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received Yesterday Saturday his Angolan counterpart Georges Chicoti, during a visit to Cairo to take part in high-level meetings on the Great Lakes issues. The meeting dealt with ways to boost bilateral relations at all levels, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zaid said in a statement. Shoukry affirmed that Egypt is very much interested in the issues of the Great Lakes and the region's political developments, especially in Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Egypt is keen on coordinating stances with Angola in light of its current presidency of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region, the spokesman quoted Shoukry as having said. He also affirmed Egypt's keenness on boosting bilateral coordination and consultation on African issues within the framework of the African Union, exchanging support at international forums and intensifying bilateral high-level visits. For his part, Chicoti affirmed his country's eagerness to intensify coordination with Egypt at regional and international forums and boosting joint cooperation for achieving the aspirations of the two peoples.
