Cairo - An 'aAmerican-Jewish Committee, AJC ' leadership delegation, in two days of meetings in Cairo, conferred with President Sisi and senior Egyptian officials on the importance of strengthening U.S.-Egyptian ties and the mutual benefits of increasingly close strategic cooperation between Egypt and Israel. The delegation -- led by AJC President John Shapiro, Board of Governors Chair Harriet Schleifer, and Associate Executive Director for Policy Jason Isaacson -- discussed a range of regional and global political and security concerns in a two-hour conversation with the Egyptian President, with whom AJC has met repeatedly in Cairo and New York. The 14-member delegation also met with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail Mohamed, Defense Minister Col. Gen. Sedki Sobhy Sayyid Ahmed and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, among other officials and civil society interlocutors.
