Published in Albawaba on 01 - 12 - 2016

Cairo, alBawaba - As part of the current global and regional dialogue on Energy- Water-Food security nexus, and the growing challenge of meeting human needs for food, water and energy in a sustainable manner, Fulbright Student Alumni from seven countries in the region will convene for a two-day Conference on Dec ember 5-6, 2016, under the title of, "Fulbright Student Alumni Regional Conference: Natural Resources".
This conference serves as a platform for Fulbright Alumni to contribute to the ongoing global and regional efforts to introduce innovative approaches and best practices in the field of natural resources preservation towards addressing current challenges of Energy- Water – Food security nexus.
The conference will be convened under the auspices of the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) and is co-sponsored by AmidEast, Washington. BFCE was established in 1949 by a protocol between the governments of the United States and Egypt as an educational foundation with the primary goal of promoting educational and cultural advancement in the two countries. The Commission is part of the global Fulbright program which is currently operating in 155 countries worldwide. Since its establishment in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late U.S. Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the Fulbright Program has given more than 370,000 students, scholars, teachers, artists, and scientists opportunities to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns. Fulbright is not a single entity, but rather a partnership of government entities, private organizations, academic institutions, grantees, alumni and volunteers throughout the world. Established in 1949, the Fulbright Commission in Egypt is the oldest and largest Commission in the region. To-date the Commission has awarded approximately 6,000 grants to Egyptian and American Fulbrighters. Fulbright Alumni become ambassadors, not only of good will and international understanding, but also of leadership, management excellence, best practices, innovation, information and ideas.
