President of the so-called National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces, Anas Abdah, called on Tuesday for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, which would consider the future of the Security Council resolutions on Syria. "The Security Council has to hold an emergency meeting, which will examine the future of its resolutions on Syria and why they remain not applied, who violated them, and who rejected," Abdah said at a press conference in Istanbul. Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups.
