Minister of international cooperation, Sahar Nasr met Saturday, regional director of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and his accompanying delegation, to discuss cooperation in 1.5 million acres of land project. The visit of FAO's delegation to Egypt comes as a follow-up to the meeting, which was held between President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and the general director of FAO, Al Bawaba News reported. The delegation includes a number of experts in the fields of water, land, fisheries, and natural resources of the organization. Nasr stressed on the strategic importance of the project, which is considered to be one of the most important national projects, during the meeting. The visit aims to develop a framework for cooperation between FAO and Egypt in the project, such as areas of expansion in the use of groundwater, new technologies for irrigation, establishment of fisheries and enhance of fish productivity, and intensification of renewable energy use, especially the use of solar energy in agriculture.
