The Egyptian police never detained the Italian student, Giulio Regeni who was found killed in Egypt, Ministry of Interior deputy for human rights, Major General Abu Bakr Abdel Kareem said on Monday. Abdel Kareem pointed out that the Italian newspapers claims about torturing Regeni by the Egyptian police are completely untrue. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in order to confirm that the Interior Ministry had no connection with the Italian student's death, stressing that the ministry welcomes the Italian team to investigate and cooperate with it to reveal the mysteries of the incident. Abdel Kareem confirmed the ministry will reveal to the media the details and results of investigations, noting that the ministry was doing great efforts to know the reasons behind Regeni's death.
