President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ordered Sunday, the Egyptian Navy to send a maritime rescue ship to Port Sudan, in order to assist in search and rescue operations going on for missing Egyptian sailors, Al-Bawaba News reported. This step comes in coordination and cooperation with the Sudanese naval forces, Egyptian ambassador in Khartoum, Osama Shaltout said in a statement to Middle East News Agency (MENA). Shaltout pointed out that Al Sisi carefully follows up and monitors the ongoing rescue efforts for 12 Egyptian sailors, after their boat sank off the territorial waters of Sudan and Eritrea. He revealed that the president stressed on the need to take all necessary measures in cooperation with the Sudanese authorities and intensify the search efforts for the missing Egyptian sailors.
