The visit of Russia's Defense Minister Sergeri Shoigu to Egypt came in a critical period to underline the depth of partnership and cooperation between the two countries, said the Russian media in its coverage to the visit. The visit comes to express Russia's appreciation to Egypt's role in achieving security and stability in the region, TASS News Agency reported,stressing that the cooperation extends to the military, security and intelligence aspects. The news agency underlined the statements delivered by the Russian official after his meeting with Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, saying that they reflect his country's desire to deepen its cooperation with Egypt in different fields. In turn, The Russian Sputnik agency stressed the importance of Shoigu's visit to Egypt pointing out that there are many military matters that were on the agenda of the visit, especially that the two countries signed arms contracts worth $ 3.5 billion. The Russian defense minister, noted in comments carried by "Russia today" channel, that Russia supports the Egyptian leadership's efforts in the fight against terrorism, pointing out that the main task today is to combat this scourge, including taking place in "Sinai."
