Egypt's Grand Mufti, Shawki Allam said that the extremist groups led by the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group are using religious verses from the Quran and Sunnah to justify its criminal acts, Al-Bawaba News reported Sunday. Allam pointed out that Islam rejects terrorist attacks and considers their perpetrators as criminal who must be punished. He stressed that Egypt's Dar al-Iftaa spotted fifty Quranic verses used by IS to carry out terrorist attacks, adding that Dar al-Iftaa has responded to those suspicions.
