Giza Criminal Court referred on Monday three defendants to Grand Mufti to review death sentences handed to them over charges of committing violent acts in Imbaba city, Al-Bawaba News reported. The suspects are charged with joining an outlawed organization, the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) terrorist group, participating in marches without permits as well as possessing firearms. Consulting Egypt's Grand Mufti is a procedural step adopted in all cases which involve death sentences. The Mufti's rulings are not binding, yet it is customary for the court to adopt them.
