Member of Egypt's Al Nour Party's presidential council, Shaaban Abdel -Alim said his party sought through parliamentary elections to be an important player in the political arena to serve the nation's higher interests, Al Bawaba News reported Saturday. Abdel-Alim slammed endeavors by "some forces" seeking to oust the party from the political scene, adding "it's something we completely reject; we believe that Egypt's current problems are greater than the capacity of any particular stream to solve them".
He also assured his party would be able to win the run-off and the second round of elections regardless of all the obstacles. Media reports said the Salafist party might not continue the electoral race following weak results it achieved in the first round of elections held on Oct. 18-19.
