Abdel-Rehim Ali
Controversial writer and TV anchor Abdel-Rehim Ali formerly worked for Al-Qahera Wal-Nas satellite channel on the TV show “The Black Box.” He was acquitted last year after airing allegedly leaked phone calls by prominent political activists, former parliamentarian Mustafa Al-Naggar and poet Abdel-Rahman Youssef.
Ali, running for the Agouza and Dokkiconstituencies, is a member of the Press Syndicate. He is an Islamist movement researcher and expert. Ali is also CEO and editor-in-chief of Al-Bawaba News and a consultant on terrorism affairs for Al-Arabia news satellite channel.

Amr Al-Shobaki
Amr Mahmoud Al-Shobaki, born in February 1961, is the head of the Arab European Department in the Al-Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies. Al-Shobaki, a political commentator, is running for Dokki and Agouza constituencies.
Al-Shobaki was a member of the previous parliament of 2012. He has a long list of publications, including 30 books and pamphlets, and has published a number of research papers in Arabic, French and English publications. His articles address Egyptian and other Arab political systems, political Islamic movements, European political systems and issues facing European Islam, and Arab and European media.
Al-Shobaki has published a large number of articles in Al-Masri Al-Youm, Al-Ahram, Al-Ahram Strategic Periodical Cairo, Al-Hayat and Al-Sharq Al-Awsat in London, Al-Khalij and Al-Bayan of the United Arab Emirates, and Le Figaro in France.

Ahmed Mortada Mansour
Ahmed Mortada Mansour is a member of the Free Egyptians Party headed by tycoon businessman Naguib Sawiris. Mansour is the son of controversial lawyer Mortada Mansour who heads Zamalek Sporting Club.
Mansour, the son, is also a lawyer and works in his father's office. He ran for parliamentary elections in 2012 and lost to Amr Al-Shobaki. Mansour, who is running in the Dokki and Agouza constituencies, is also a member of the Zamalek Club board of directors.
Though proud of his father, Mansour is said to be his own man. Unlike his divisive father, he is popular with Zamalek Club members.

Sayed Gohar
Engineer Sayed Gohar, who was a member of the defunct National Democratic Party, is running for Dokki and Agouza constituencies. He served as an MP in 2005.
As in previous elections, Gohar will run for the independent labour parliamentary seat. Since the beginning of this year's electoral campaign he has held several meetings with people of his constituency to urge them to vote. “Each one of you must cast his ballot on election day. This is the first parliament to be held after the approval of the constitution,” Gohar has been saying.

Sameh Eid
Sameh Eid is a former member of the Muslim Brotherhood. He is currently a member of the Conservative Party and is running for Six October, Sheikh Zayed and Al-Wahat constituencies.
Eid is an expert on Islamist movements. He has pointed out that none of the Muslim Brotherhood members intends to run. “If I win, I will exert efforts to amend the protest law according to international standards,” Eid has said.

Shaaban Abdel-Alim
Shaaban Abdel-Alim is assistant secretary-general of the Salafist Al-Nour Party and is running for the Bandar Beni Sweif constituency.
Abdel-Alim is also a member of the party's Higher Committee and its presidential council. In 2012 he was an MP in 2012 and headed the parliament's committee on education and scientific research. He is a professor at the Faculty of Commerce at Beni Sweif University.
Abdel-Alim took part in the 100-member committee that drafted the 2012 constitution.
