Israeli forces detain 26 Palestinians in East Jerusalem
Published in Albawaba on 22 - 10 - 2015

Israeli forces early Thursday detained 26 Palestinians from across occupied East Jerusalem while clashes broke out in al-Issawiya, leaving one Palestinian injured.
Forces raided the Palestinian neighborhoods of al-Sawana, Silwan, Jabal al-Mukabbir, and al-Issawiya, entering several homes and bringing detainees to Oz police station in Jabal al-Mukkabir.
Clashes broke out in al-Issawiya between Israeli forces and residents when the forces detained two Palestinians. A resident was shot in the eye with a rubber-coated steel bullet during the clashes and transferred to a hospital.
Muhammad Abu al-Hummus, a member of the follow-up committee in the neighborhood, told Ma'an that Israeli troops raided the area along with a helicopter, throwing tear gas and firing rubber-coated steel bullets at random.
In the Silwan area, six were detained, including five minors.
Majdi al-Abbassai from the Wadi Hilweh Information Center told Ma'an that Israeli troops raided al-Bustan and Beir Ayoub neighborhoods in Silwan, detaining Shifaa al-Shaloudi and five minors identified as Fadi Hamza al-Shaloudi, Mahdi Mazen al-Shaludi, Muhamamd Nader Odah, Ahmad Yassin al-Rajabi, and Muhammad Mazen al-Shaloudi.
Abbasi added that Israeli soldiers were deployed throughout the area after raiding and "destroying" the home of Silwan resident Abul-Rahman al-Shaloudi.
A lawyer at prisoners' rights group Addameer, Muammad Mahmoud, identified other Palestinian detainees from across Jerusalem as Khalid Waleed Yousif Obied, 20, Jameel al-Kadmani,19, Muhammad Isaac Shihab, 20, Fadi Husni al-Kilani,18, Amir Mahmoud al-Kadmani, 20, Sami Mahmoud al-KAdmani, Muhammad Mahmoud al-Kadmani, 24, Majdi Mahmoud abu Ghazalah, 25, Nazir Jawad al-Amouri, 21, Ahmad Wisam Owisat, 21, Muhammad Jameel Obeideia,19, Abbas Ibrahim Abbassi, 20, Amer Khalil al-Muthasib,18, Ali Sabri Abu diab, 20, and Amer Zeidan Zeidni, 20.
Nasser Qaws of the Palestinian Prisoners' Society in Jerusalem added that Israeli forces detained Mutaz abu Rmeilah, as well as Louy Ghosha and his brother.
An Israeli police spokesperson did not immediately respond for comment.
At least ten Palestinians were detained across occupied East Jerusalem Wednesday as Israeli authorities continued to seal off Palestinian neighborhoods in ongoing punitive measures following frequent attacks in the area.
The neighborhoods of al-Issawiya and Jabal al-Mukabbir have come under particularly severe restrictions, described yesterday by Amnesty International as "the collective punishment of thousands of people."
