The Egyptian Armed Forces continued its wide military campaign on all borders that has been started for several months, targeting militant groups, Al-Bawaba News reported Thursday. Media reports revealed that 20 militants were killed and 12 others were injured in separate gunfire battles with the armed forces at military ambushes and checkpoints, most of them occurred in Al-Arish and Sheikh Zuweid. The army also arrested 78 terror suspects including wanted criminals; all of them were detained pending investigation. According to security sources, the anti-terror troops have seized large amounts of weapons, ammunition, explosive devices and bombs. In addition, 51 IEDs were defused by explosive experts. The Egyptian army has also destroyed 6 vehicles and nine motorbikes with no license plates, which have been used in monitoring the movement of military forces and transferring militants within the Sinai Peninsula, media reports said. Moreover, the forces have demolished 20 hotspots of militant groups including communications rooms and underground hideouts.
