President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi met Friday with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on the sideline the United Nations General Assembly Summit in New York, Al Bawaba News reported. During the meeting, Modi praised the historical relations between India and Egypt, congratulating Sisi on the inauguration of the new Suez Canal. Modi added that he will encourage the Indian public and private companies to invest in Egypt especially in the Suez Canal Development Project. The Indian Prime Minister expressed his country's desire to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries in all fields including trade and investment, and fighting against terrorism. For his part, Sisi said that Egypt is keen to boost its relations with India in various fields, expressing his appreciation of Egyptian- Indian experience that witnessed a huge progress in various fields. Sisi also thanked the Indian Prime Minister on his country's support for Egypt's candidacy for the North Africa non-permanent UN Security Council seat for the years 2016-2017.
