Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab met Monday with Chairman of the Italian Senateˈs Foreign Policy Commission, Pier Ferdinando Casini in Cairo to discuss the ways of cooperation between Egypt and Italy, Al Bawaba News reported. During the meeting, Mahlab praised the Egyptian-Italian relations that witness a huge cooperation recently in various fields. Mahlab expressed his appreciation for the Italian participation in the opening ceremony of the new Suez Canal, as well as Italy's support for Egypt in a number of issues. The two sides discussed the latest developments of the Libyan and Syrian crises, stressing on the importance of peaceful solutions in settling such disputes in the region. For his part, Casini congratulated the prime minister on the new natural gas discovery, stressing the need for increasing cooperation between the two countries during the coming period.
