Israeli forces detained six Palestinians across the occupied West Bank overnight Saturday, an Israeli army spokesperson said. An Israeli army spokesperson said three Palestinians were detained in Jenin, two near Ramallah and one near Bethlehem. Palestinian security sources told Ma'an that Israeli troops broke into several homes in Jenin refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank, before detaining 24-year-old Qays Ghalib Arqawi and another young man identified as Haitham Hatim al-Nabhan from the camp. Near Ramallah, Israeli forces stormed the central West Bank village of Nabi Saleh during the earliest hours of the morning on Sunday and detained two young men, local sources said. Locals said Israeli soldiers began raiding the village at 4 a.m. and ransacked several homes before they detained Mahir Mahmoud Tamimi, 18, and Izziddin Abdil-Hafith Mahmoud, 22. Local young men pelted the invading Israeli forces with stones and empty bottles, after which soldiers responded with tear gas canisters, stun grenades and live fire. No injuries have been reported. Dozens of Palestinians have been injured, and many more detained this week, as Israeli forces suppressed protests across the West Bank in support of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound amid ongoing entry restrictions. Israeli forces routinely detain Palestinians throughout the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, often on the pretext of perceived security threats, and Addameer estimates that 40 percent of the Palestinian male population has been arrested at some point. Nearly 6,000 Palestinian prisoners are currently being held in Israeli jails.
