Egypt's Religious Endowments Ministry announced Thursday it would hold an international conference on the renewal of religious discourse in November, Yum 7 reported. More than 50 preachers, ministers of Endowments and muftis across the globe will attend the conference scheduled to convene in Egypt's touristic city of Luxor in 14 and 15 November. The conference comes under the title "Imams' vision to renew religious discourse and discard extremism," caretaker Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said. Gomaa stated in press statements that holding the conference in Luxor seeks to "support tourism and demonstrate the tolerance of Islam toward ancient civilizations".
