Cairo's civil protection administration general director, Gamal Halawa said that a homemade bomb was planted near the court, wounding two police officers and a civilian. Halawa added that bomb disposal experts intensified their presence immediately in the blast scene to scan the area for other potential threats, pointing out that they found another bomb and succeeded to defuse it.
