The global media highlighted the experimental operation of the new Suez Canal project on Saturday, praising the fast implementation of the project and the expected consequent recovery of the Egyptian economy, Al Bawaba News reported Sunday. Under the title 'Egypt to launch the second Suez Canal after 60 years of nationalization', Al-Arabiya satellite channel aired a report about the experimental operation and the official opening ceremony which is expected to be attended by many leaders and delegations from all over the world. The report stated that the new Suez Canal project is a part of an ambitious economic plan for the development of the Suez Canal zone to convert it into an entity of logistical, industrial and commercial center through constructing several ports to provide services for commercial fleets crossing the channel. Egypt has been suffering an economic significant set back since the January 25, 2011 revolution that brought down Hosni Mubarak, resulting in the lack of foreign currency resources due to the decline in foreign investment and tourism revenues as a result of security and political stability deterioration in the country. Russia Today news channel focused on securing the Suez Canal during the experimental operation through air and marine security procedures using a number of military helicopters and navy boats. Sky News channel indicated the economic importance of the project and its impacts on the Egyptian economy and logistics affiliated projects pointing to President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi's keenness to complete the project in the shortest possible period of time.
