Egyptian high level officials said on Thursday tightened security measures had been taken to secure the new Suez Canal inauguration expected on Aug. 6, 2015, Al Bawaba News reported. The move comes as a precautionary measure against escalations in terrorist attacks in the Sinai Peninsula, near the new canal, according to the officials. "Rapid deployment forces and Border Guards forces as well as 15 thousand security personnel have been deployed to secure the navigation passage," they said. The inauguration will also be secured through Rafale, Dassault Mirage 2000, F16 and Apache aircrafts, they added, indicating the National Security sector had conducted investigations to arrest suspected militants as a preempt measure against takfiri elements in the restive peninsula.
