U.S.-led International coalition command announced Tuesday that it launched 48 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq, Iraqi media outlets reported. The command said that its warplanes conducted 39 airstrikes on IS sites in a number of Iraqi cities, destroying 67 fighting positions, three tactical units, a digger and two vehicle. It added that the other nine airstrikes were carried out on IS sites in Syria's Haskah, Raqqa and Kobani cities, destroying seven tactical units and seven fighting positions. The coalition has launched its war against IS positions in Aug. 2014.
