Egypt's police on Friday have swept the streets at Ain Shams neighborhood, eastern Cairo, in anticipation of violent protests or terrorist attacks by the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group, Al Bawaba News reported. Officials said the metro station in the neighborhood also witnessed intensified security presence. On Fridays, MB loyalists tend to stage violent protests across Egypt calling for the reinstatement of the ousted president Mohamed Morsi, who was overthrown, July 2013 amid mass street protests. Protesting without permission is criminalized in Egypt according to a protesting law issued by interim authorities in 2013 following ousting Morsi. The MB was listed as a terrorist group in Sept. 2013 after a string of deadly blasts, mostly in the Sinai Peninsula, claiming hundreds of lives among security personnel and civilians.
