Egypt Attorney General, Hisham Barakat has been injured in an explosion targeting his car Monday morning, causing the injury of two of his guards and the driver, media outlets reported. Barakat is undergoing a surgery at Al Nozha hospital in Heliopolis, Cairo, medical source told Al Masry Al Youm news, adding that attorney general was admitted to the hospital in serious condition at 9 am. Barakat's convoy was targeted by improvised explosive device (IED) planted under his car, whilst eyewitnesses claimed the death of two victims. The so-called "Popular Resistance" militias have claimed responsibility for the bombing, announcing through their Facebook page that they had bombed his car and two others.
