The British citizenship saved Al Jazeera's journalist Ahmed Mansour from the imprisonment in Germany, said political expert Amr Hashem Rabei. He added that the German authorities took the decision to release the Egyptian journalist loyal to Muslim Brotherhood due to his British citizenship. Rabei, who serves as deputy chairperson of Al Ahram Center for Strategic Studies, said that Al Jazeera satellite channel and Turkey pressured the German government to release the leading member of the banned group and not to repeat such measures with the other MB leaders.
