Misrata political figure Saleh Badi announced in a statement he had launched a new faction linked with the Libya Dawn military alliance, Libyan media outlets reported on Thursday. The new faction, named Libya Dawn 2, comprises seven Misrata brigades in addition to the Libya Dawn factions in the capital Tripoli, including the Tripoli Revolutionaries' Brigade led by Haitham Tajouri, the Nawasi Brigade and the Rada forces led by Abdul Rauf Kara, the Mobile Forces and the Janzur Knights. The new military group seeks to protect the security of the capital and to secure its inhabitants from being kidnapped or attacked, the statement read. "Our declared aims will be achieved with an iron fist and without any compromise," the statement added.
