Egypt's Ambassador to Sarajevo, Yasser Al Atawy announced in a statement Friday that Bosnia and Herzegovina supported Egypt's nomination for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council, Al Bawaba News reported. Al Atawy said that Bosnia and Herzegovina's support reflected the good relations between the two countries and shows the appreciation of the Bosnian people and their government for the Egyptian role in the region. The current period is witnessing a significant rapprochement between the two countries in the political and economic fields, Al Atawy added, indicating an increase in the number of Bosnian tourists flocking to Egypt. Egypt was granted a Security Council membership four times in 1946, 1949 – 1950, 1984 – 1985, and 1996 – 1997.
