Prince Tahseen Saeed, head of Yazidi community in Iraq revealed in a meeting with human rights activists that Islamic State (IS) militants have abducted and raped dozens of Shiite women, Al-Bawaba News reported Saturday. Saeed, based in Hanover, Germany, indicated Yazidis, Christians and Muslims have been historically united, calling for further coordination among ingredients of Iraqi fabric. "We have to transcend pan-Iraqi minorities misunderstanding," Saeed added, calling on international community to rehabilitate Yazidi women formerly abducted and raped by IS militants and to take more effective actions against the terrorist group. In Oct. 2014, IS militants, who captured large swathes of Iraq and Syria, were said to have abducted and sexually assaulted up to 5,000 Yazidi women and girls.
