The Iraqi Kurdistan's Ministry of Peshmerga announced that the Kurdish forces killed 17 Islamic State (IS) militants in Mosul, Al Bawaba News reported Sunday. Sources said that IS militants launched an attack on the town of Eski in order to seize Mosul's dam, and that the Peshmerga responded by killing 17 of their militants and burning eight of their vehicles. The source pointed out that IS had killed four Peshmerga fighters including a colonel, stressing that the Kurdish forces controlled the village and all surrounding areas of the Mosul Dam. Mosul is Iraq's second largest city, currently the largest city under IS control.
