Improvised explosive device (IED) exploded Monday targeting a cell phone tower in Fayoum governorate, Upper Egypt, no casualties reported. Youm7 reported Bomb disposal officers and civil security forces were deployed to the scene to scan the area for other potential threats, local residents said. Since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013, public utilities and services including cell phone towers have been targeted for attacks. The most significant bombing of this kind took place on April 13, when two electricity towers feeding the Egyptian Media Production City were bombed, cutting power at some Nile Sat channels for a few hours.
