An improvised explosion Device (IED) exploded in Cairo's Sphinx Square on Friday with no injuries, Al Masry Al Youm reported. Bomb disposal officers and explosive detection dogs were deployed to the blast scene to scan the area for other potential threats. Security source told Al Masry Al Youm that the IED was planted after the end of Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab's visit to Zamalek Sporting Club, close to the square, denying that the explosion targeted Mahlab.
