A sound bomb blew up near a police station in Mansoura city northeast of Cairo late Wednesday and left one injured, security sources said. The source added that a device plugged into a vehicle which was parked in front of the police station of District no. 1 exploded causing a strong sound. The vicinity of the explosion was surrounded with a cordon of police as bomb disposal officers and civil security forces were deployed to the scene to scan the area for other potential threats and evidence, according to the source. He stated that the injured was transferred to the nearest hospital, noting that the blast caused minor damages to nearby vehicles and shops. Egypt in recent months has seen a wave of militant attacks, including IEDs, bombs, and shootings. Most target police and army sites but civilians have also been killed and injured in the violence.
