Patriarch of Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II has left Cairo, heading to Armenia Monday to participate in the 100th memory of Turkish massacre against Armenians during the Ottoman rule, Youm7 Newspaper reported. The visit comes days after the recent statement delivered by Vatican Pope Francis to condemn the mass killing committed against the Armenians a century ago, describing it as genocide. Francis' statements raised the Turkish outrage, prompting the government to withdraw its ambassador to Vatican. Tawadros' visit to Armenia is scheduled to continue for a week. The Coptic top cleric accompanies a delegation of bishops during the visit.
