The Egyptian army killed Friday 10 Wilayet Sinai militants and arrested 11 others, affiliated to the terror group, in North Sinai's Sheikh Zuweid city, state-run MENA news agency reported. Military forces launched a widespread campaign using Apache helicopters and ground troops targeting militant hotbeds in both Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah cities. The forces seized an unlicensed SUV and communication devices reportedly used by the militants in their fight against the army. The security campaign also destroyed 10 Improvised Explosive Devices planted by militants in North Sinai. No casualties have been reported. Since president Mohamed Morsi's ouster in July 2013, the Egyptian army has been fighting the Sinai-based Wilayet Sinai terrorist group, formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, after it claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel.
