Security forces in the Dakahlia province detained Sunday a Muslim Brotherhood (MB) terrorist cell, reportedly planning to sabotage the upcoming economic conference in Sharm El Sheik. According to a statement issued by the Dakahlia security directorate, the MB terrorist cell planned to commit acts of sabotage against state institutions, with the aim of spreading fear across the country. It also planned to plant explosives in several provinces ahead of the conference, in an attempt to delay or cancel it. The cell, consisting of seven members, rented apartments to manufacture and store explosive packs, planning to use a small remote controlled plane to target state institutions and detonate the bombs, according to the statement. Security forces found within the suspects' possession an explosive pack, wires, a camera to control the plane, 16 small motors, 34 remote controls, 138 batteries and a number of bulletproof vests, the statement added. The suspects confessed to their intention of targeting state institutions.
