Security authorities confirmed Tuesday that 2 explosions took place near Fayoum Police Station and in 10th of Ramadan city, but left no injuries. Director of Fayoum Police Department, Major Al-Shafei Hassan told Albawaba News he received reports over an explosive package thrown at the police station by unidentified suspects on a motorcycle, the perpetrators remotely detonated the bomb and fled the scene. Nearby streets have been barricaded and security forces were deployed to the scene to scan the area for other potential threats and clues.
An explosion destroyed an electricity power line in 10th of Ramadan city, bomb disposal officers managed to defuse two other explosive packages nearby.
"Investigations revealed that 3 members of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood were behind the explosion, police personnel are currently scanning the area for the suspects", said police General Osama Metwally,"bomb disposal officers diffused a bomb at the Mallawi railway station in Minya, which halted railway travel," he added.
An explosion targeting a police checkpoint in Mostorod near the Islamic complex in Giza, left 8 injured, including 7 policemen and a civilian. The injured were rushed to Nile Health Insurance and Nasser hospitals for medical aid.
