Cairo Criminal Court will resume the trial of former president Mohamed Morsi, and 35 co-defendants on Wednesday, in the case publicly known as the "espionage case". Morsi and 18 other defendants are tried directly in the case in addition to 17 others tried in absentia over charges of collaborating with foreign organizations to commit acts of terrorism in Egypt, revealing national security secrets to a foreign country, and funding terrorists. Morsi and a number of Muslim Brotherhood leaders are charged in separate cases, including inciting murder of protesters and breaking out of Tura prison in 2011.
