Noun Foundation for Culture and Arts is organizing the third edition of the LuxorEgyptian and European Film Festival in Luxor from January 24 – 31 2015, in collaboration with public and private institutions in Egypt and Europe The festival will open with "Wife of the Pharaoh", a 1922 German historical epic film directed by Ernst Lubitsch. Official competitions will include feature length and short films produced in 2014. The program will also include tributes to the French Cinema with the French New Wave, French director Yves Boisset, the new French feminine cinema and French Animation. Another tribute will be paid to Egyptian actress Lebleba to honor her long cinematic career and significant roles in "Against the government" by Atef El Tayeb (1992), "Fallen Angels Paradise" by Oussama Fawzi (1999) and "Mickey's Family" by Akram Farid (2010), among others. Egyptian script writer, Fayez Ghaly, will also be honored for the movie "A bad day and a good day" by director Khairy Beshara. Also on the program, a close-up on New Arabic cinema, the Centenary of great Egyptian directors Salah Abu Seif and Kamel El Telmessany and Nights of Egyptian Cinema. The jury this year is headed by French director Yves Boisset, its members include Eyptian Actress Lebleba, German Film critic Eberhard Spreng, Egyptian director Hala Lotfi, Norwegian actress Janne Heltberg, Greek producer Eleni Kossyfidou and Dragan Marinkovic from the Belgrade Film Festival. The LuxorEgyptian & European Film Festival seeks to encourage Egyptian and European directors through the prizes awarded and to attract a new audience for cinema in Upper Egypt. The choice of the city of Luxor as a location for this festival has the purpose of developing culture and cinematography in this governorate rich in history and civilization, as well as attracting tourists during this difficult period that Egypt is facing.
