The Premier League match between Al- Ahly SC and Al-Masry SC was in a state of limbo Tuesday after Ahly's fans demanded that the match be cancelled. Dozens of the Port Said massacre victims' family members stormed Al-Ahly Club in Guezira on Tuesday, urging the club's administrators to cancel or delay its upcoming game until the final verdict in the Port Said massacre trial is issued, state media reported. Despite dissatisfaction among Al-Ahly players who wished to respect their fans' concerns, the club's administrators announced that the team will travel to El-Gouna on Thursday for the match. 72 fans of a club of Ahly supporters, known as Ultras Ahly, were killed in Port Said in February 2012 when Al-Masry's fans stormed the stadium and attacked them using knives and stones, as well as throwing some from the stands. 73 defendants including nine security personnel, were put on trial regarding the incident and given sentences ranging from 15 years to life in prison. The defendants challenged the verdict and the retrial of all 73 defendants has been set for Jan. 10.
