In Europe, too AFRICAN players are scoring not just in the African Cup of Nations but in their European clubs as well. Egyptian Mohamed Zidan scored the sixth fastest goal in the history of the Bundesliga on Saturday. It took him 14 seconds to put Mainz 05 ahead in their 4-2 defeat to Werder Bremen. Ghana-born Kevin Boateng opened the scoring for Hertha Berlin in their 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. Compatriot Isaac Boakye was on target for Arminia Bielefeld but they ended up losing 2-1 away to Hamburg. Togo striker Sheyi Adebayor made a glorious debut for Arsenal, scoring with a header in their 2-0 away win over Birmingham. The 21-year-old left French club Monaco last month. Senegal striker Moussa N'Diaye scored the winner for Ajaccio in their 1-0 win over Auxerre. But the Corsican club still remain in the relegation zone. Gabon striker Daniel Cousin was on target for Lens as they beat Strasbourg 2-1 to move into sixth place. Mali defender Fousseiny Diawara got a consolation strike for St. Etienne in their 3-1 at home to Toulouse. Zulte-Waregem maintained their fourth position thanks to two goals scored by Ghana's Ibrahim Salou in their 3-1 defeat of Club Brugges. Salou takes his goal tally to eight this season. Burkina Faso international Aristide Bance hit the target for Lokeren as they drew 2-2 with Roselare. Morocco's Said Boutahar scored a goal in NEC Nijmegen's 3- 1 away win over RKC Waalwijk. Out of action IVORY Coast attacker Aruna Dindane left the African Nations Cup for a second time. Dindane, who left the team after the sudden death of his daughter, returned to Egypt to seek a place in their quarter-final tied against Cameroon. But a calf injury to the 25-year-old ruled him out for the remainder of the tournament, compelling him to return to French club Lens. Dindane picked up the injury during a pre-tournament training match against German club VfB Stuttgart in Abu Dhabi. Bolton's Khalilou Fadiga has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season after rupturing a tendon in his knee during the 1-1 draw with Wigan. The Senegal midfielder twisted his knee after 23 minutes of the game while attempting to pass the ball and had to be stretchered off the pitch. Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce said: "I'm very disappointed for Khali. He was controlling the game up to that point and to lose him for the rest of the season is a massive blow." Arsenal defender Lauren has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season because of a knee injury. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said on Tuesday that the right-back would be out for around one month. But the 28-year-old Cameroonian underwent surgery on Thursday where results proved the injury was more serious than first thought. Lauren joins fellow defenders Pascal Cygan, Ashley Cole, Gael Clichy and Kerrea Gilbert on the injury list. Sol Campbell is also out, having been given time off by Wenger who said the defender was "down". Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue are away at the African Cup of Nations, leaving Wenger facing a defensive crisis. Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has been ruled out for the rest of season with a knee ligament injury. The England Under-21 international picked up the problem in training and scans revealed damage to the 19-year-old's ligaments. City manager Stuart Pearce said he was disappointed for Onuoha. "He is a smashing young lad, with a great future ahead of him." However, Pearce believes that Onuoha is of an age where he will get over it and come back stronger. A nagging ankle injury ruled out Nigeria midfielder Yussuf Ayila from Tuesday's African Cup of Nations semi-final against Cote d'Ivoire. On loan CAMEROONIAN defender Lucien Mettomo has been loaned to Turkish club Kayserispor till the end of the season. Mettomo is contracted to German first division club Kaiserslautern, with his contract ending in 2007. But the 28-year-old Mettomo has only played nine games this season for the Bundesliga's bottom-placed club. Kayserispor, who were promoted into the Turkish first division this season, are seventh in the league table. Moving from France ENGLISH club Crewe have signed defender Madjid Bougherra from French side FC Gueugnon, subject to international clearance. The 23-year-old Algeria international signed until the end of the season. Boss Dario Gradi told the club website that Madjid impressed him when he was training with them, and played well against Port Vale in a reserve game. "He looks to be a leader and we need a few of those. His English isn't great but he can get his point across." Bougherra's last appearance for Algeria came against Gabon last October, as they failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations. Going places Prince TAGOE, who was the top scorer in last season's Ghanaian championship with Accra Hearts of Oak, completed his move to the Saudi Arabian side of Al-Ittihad on Monday. The Ghanian who played for the Black stars at the Nations Cup said he was happy to have joined "a big side like Al-Ittihad and hope to make the best of my time there. "I'm delighted to have met the expectations of the club president, who spoke glowingly about his love for me, which was quite overwhelming. When a big club like that comes for you, then you feel wanted and you don't think twice about it." It was a dramatic move for the 19-year-old, as German side FSV Mainz were reportedly on the verge of completing a deal with him.
