“The Sum of All Parts”, an exhibition of paintings by Maie Yanni and Adel Haroun curated by Maie Yanni, is currently on display on UBUNTU gallery's Ground Floor. Yanni is a British-born Lebanese physician who also holds a Diploma in Interior Design from Rhodec International (1999) with a special interest in Colour Theory, the ancient philosophy of Feng Shui and their psychological impact on our environment and well-being. While still a medical student, she qualified in 1982 as a Member of the Irish Craftsmen's Guild for her proficiency in Painting, Drawing and Crochet fiber work. As a multidisciplinary, self-taught artist her work encompasses a number of disciplines namely collage, mixed media and drawing, origami and Kirigami, crochet, fiber art and jewellery design. Besides being an artist and jewellery designer, she currently works as an independent art contributor, critic, curator and consultant. She is also a branding consultant for Lee Brown. Yanni's collage work is part of the permanent collection at the International Museum of Collage, Assemblage and Construction in the United States. An Egyptian artist born in 1968, Adel Haroun is an assistant professor of ceramics in the Department of Tridimensional Expression at the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University. He studied ceramics in Faenza, Italy, and is a member of the Egyptian Fine Artists Syndicate. Haroun contributed to exhibitions in Italy, Saudi Arabia, Beirut, Germany and Egypt. He gave solo shows at the Cairo Atelier (2008) and the Saad Zaghloul Cultural Centre (2017), among many others. He won the second International Biennial of Ceramics' Youth Award in 1994, the eighth Youth Salon's first prize in 1997 and the fourth Cairo International Biennial of Ceramics' Jury Prize in 1998.
