Goethe Institute 17 Hussein Wassif St, Mesaha Sq, Dokki, Tel 02 2575 9877 Thurs 6, 7pm: STBSA is a musical performance that combines storytelling, vocal music, electronic and acoustic music. It features Kholoud Adel (voice and composition), Jaqueline George (electronic music), Haytham El Masry (Arabian zither), Hassan Hassan (cello) Wessam Mokhtar (percussion), Haytham Hassan (choreography) and Ziyad Osama (performance). Following, a concert by Egyptian flautist Fayrouz Kaddal and violinist Daniel Merrill who both take us on a journey to discover their ethnic and musical identity. Both musicians deal with ethnic melodies and rhythms from Nubia, Sudan, the Orient and Great Britain. Kaddal and Merrill compose for flute and violin, using advanced playing techniques. Thurs 13, 7pm: Sirriyya group will perform a multimedia performance with experimental music that combines prepared field recordings, cello, oud, violin and flute. The musical-acoustic and the choreographic design interact visually with each other. The concept of the performance is based on a personal examination of the composer Jacqueline George with the Coptic intellectual history and the concept of death and reflects her own understanding of time, love and being. It features among others Kholoud Adel (Sound Performance, vocals), Florence Moutin (Performance), Fayrouz Kaddal (Flute), Daniel Merrill (Violin), Hassan Hosny (Cello). A concert features Gawy band presenting an alternative art in which poetry and song are interwoven in a new way and traditional songs rehashed.
