The gallery brings together new and old works by pioneering artists living and working in Egypt:Ali Abdel-Mohsen, Ahmed Askalany, Ramy Dozy, Shaimaa Kamel, Qarm Qart, Hany Rashed, Ahmed Sabri . For the show, Mashrabia has selected a group of mixed media collages realised on the pages of Al Masry Al Youm, one of the most popular newspapers in Egypt. Hence, the title puns on a reflection on nowadays Egypt, while tackling the role of the traditional media at a crucial time for Egyptian history. Silhouettes of football players overlap and mix with articles and news about politics, economy and culture metaphorically addressing the need for dynamism and change reclaimed by the liberal youth on the ‘playgrounds' of society (17 January- 25 February).
