It's holiday season when home parties, weddings and family gatherings are a main theme. And definitely a glowing skin and fresh look is something we all dream of. So instead of putting your skin through harsh chemical treatments or spending a lot of time and money on beauty salons, why not rejuvenate and revitalise your skin from your kitchen shelf? Save your hard-earned money and pamper your skin with these homemade facial masks: Banana mask: Give your skin a splash of life with the boost of bananas. You will need a mashed banana, 3/4 teaspoon of curd, a few drops of honey and a few drops of rose water. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and then apply on a clean face. Leave the mask to dry for 15 minutes and then clean with tap water. Bananas and honey add sheen to your skin, particularly dry skin. They control oil and remove excess sebum. Oat pack: Oats form a natural scrub with the goodness of anti-oxidants. An oat face pack not only adds glow to your skin, but also lightens dark spots visibly. Take about five tablespoons of oats and soak them in warm water for 15 minutes. Mash the oats in warm water until they are converted into a paste. Add five to seven drops of rose water, 3/4 teaspoon of sandalwood powder and curd and beat the mixture well. The final paste contains tiny granules of oats. Apply the mixture on the face and neck and leave to dry for 20 minutes. When removing with tap water, scrub with gentle upwards strokes for 10 minutes and then wash. Egg and almond pack: This mask is suitable for dry skin. Beat an egg and mix it with two to three teaspoons of ground almonds. Apply this mixture to your face and rinse off after 20 minutes. Use this home remedy at bedtime for best results. Carrot and honey mask: This pack is suitable for sensitive skin. Cook two or three carrots and mash them completely. Add two or three teaspoons of honey and slather the mix on your face. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse with tap water. Aloe vera and glycerin pack: You can rub the leaves of aloe vera directly on your face to help get healthy and flawless skin. For the mask, take a few leaves of aloe vera and mix them with two teaspoons of glycerin. Dab this mixture on your face and wash off after 15 minutes. Pumpkin, honey and raw milk mask: Pumpkin is packed with the goodness of vitamins A, C and zinc, which give lustre to your skin. Cook a pumpkin and mash it completely. Then mix it with two teaspoons of honey and ¼ tablespoon of raw milk. Apply this mixture to your face and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Tomato mask: When used with the correct ingredients, tomatoes can add an instant glow to your skin. Take a tomato and mash it. Add one tablespoon of sugar to the mashed tomato and mix well. Apply the mixture to your face and leave for 15 minutes. Massage your face with mild upward strokes for the next ten minutes. Use cold water (not ice cold) to remove the face pack. Sugar and tomatoes make a powerful spot-correcting and instant-glow face treatment. However, the glow only stays for two to three hours, so apply twice a day to help your skin wear a glow forever.
