AtCordoba gallery located in Mohandessein, an exhibition of miniatures shown for the first time by exceptionally gifted artist Abdel-Aal Hassan, is currently on display. Inaugurated on 14 October, the exhibition showcases 50 paintings of his small artworks that document his long art career started in the 1960's and lasted until 2013 when he suffered from a serious health problem. It shows miscellaneous art pieces in different art media including oil, pastel, charcoal, aquarelle, in addition to a collection of rare sketches drawn with the pencil that all unveil Hassan's deep talent and exceptional art skills in drawing and colouring. His paintings cover various themes such as the typical Egyptian woman with her costumes and accessories carefully selected from our rich folk and religious heritage that goes back to Pharaonic Egypt. On the contrary to his master Mahmoud Said, who had special interest in painting Banat Bahari (Delta girls) only, Hassan has been attracted to the authentic country girl so a number of his paintings depicted the Egyptian woman in rural, desert oases and urban areas. Hassan has also gained his reputation as one of the leading press artists who mastered as well the art of portraiture that although flourished at the hands of his ancestors including pioneer portraitist Ahmed Sabri, his pupil Hussein Bikar, as well as Sabri Ragheb, Ezzeddin Hammouda and finally Hassan Soliman, still he added to this type of art his very own lines characterized by allure and magic. He is able to impress and mesmerise the audience with his touch that is always overwhelmed by poeticism and glamour. Hassan has also painted brilliantly the sailing boats and the landscape in his very own and unique style distinguishing himself among his contemporaries. The exhibition is on until 12 November.
