"Directions", is a group exhibition of paintings by Abdel-Aal Hassan, Hend Adnan, Nazli Madkour, Amany Abdel-Bary, Samir Fouad and Faten Al-Nawawy currently on display at Picasso gallery in Zamalek. You always find in the works of artist Abdel Aal Hassan faces of women. And these faces are characterised by the specificity of time and place. These faces are of various girls' from over all Egypt's provinces, city girls, the Sinai Bedouin woman, and girls from, the oases and of Siwa. You surely shall note his strong interest in highlighting the features and details that confirm the identity of each face. He concentrates the women's heritage, customs and traditions through costumes and ornaments. He also depicts her daily life and he expresses clearly her interaction with her daily problems of life, and how the faces of these women control the external difficulties. He usually highlights the grief and psychological responses and emotionality of the daily rotation as well as her permanent endeavours to make ends meet. Through his rich colours, the artist have bestowed wealthy valuable formative arts on the faces of the East features through the warmth of the colours and the shadows that the artist intelligently chooses from different angles. He gained his reputation for his ability to innovate new techniques. Hassan is considered a big name as a press artist and his works vary between the art of portraiture and the landscapes. The art of portraiture has flourished at the hands of his pioneers beginning with Ahmed Sabri and his student Hussein Bikar, as well as Sabri Ragheb, Ezzeddin Hamouda and Hassan Soliman. However, Hassan has added to this art more magic and beauty in a way that distinguished him from among his peers. The exhibition runs through 18 May.
